چکیده

Recently, the perspective on the role of the environment in multiagent systems has undergone a fundamental change. Whereas functionalities of the environment are often dealt with implicitly or in an ad-hoc manner, recent research puts forward the environment as a first-order design abstraction in multiagent systems. Several researchers have demonstrated that the environment can be used in a creative manner in the design of multiagent system applications. Distinguishing between agent and environment responsibilities ameliorates separation of concerns in multiagent systems and improves engineering practice. In this paper, we reflect on state-of-the-art research on environments in multiagent systems. We explain what is meant by the environment as a first-order abstraction. We reflect on models and responsibilities of the environment, environment engineering, and applications. For each of these research tracks, we give pointers for further reading. To conclude, we point to a number of challenges for future research on environments in

A Multiagent Reinforcement Learning algorithm to solve the Community Detection Problem

Community detection is a challenging optimization problem that consists of searching for communities that belong to a network under the assumption that the nodes of the same community share properties that enable the detection of new characteristics or functional relationships in the network. Although there are many algorithms developed for community detection, most of them are unsuitable when ...

Environments for Multiagent Systems State-of-the-Art and Research Challenges

It is generally accepted that the environment is an essential compound of multiagent systems (MASs). Yet the environment is typically assigned limited responsibilities, or even neglected entirely, overlooking a rich potential for the paradigm of MASs. Opportunities that environments offer, have mostly been researched in the domain of situated MASs. However, the complex principles behind the con...

Base Isolation Systems – A State of the Art Review According to Their Mechanism

Seismic isolation is a method to reduce the destructive effects of earthquakes on a structure in which the structure is separated from its foundation by devices called seismic isolators. As a result, the horizontal movements of the earthquake transmitted to the structure are reduced. The seismic isolation is used for both newly constructed structures as well as for retrofitting the existing bui...

Together with a few recent publications a number of the online Journal of Art Historiography (June 6, 2012) dedicated to “Islamic Art Historiography” offers a glimpse at the debates that since roughly a decade stir up Islamic art studies as they are practiced in the West. These debates concern the conceptual framework used to both investigate and show in public i...
